Moving to the Boston Massachusetts Metropolitan Area and looking to live near the Desi Community.

 

Boston is commutable by car or public transportation. However it has heavy traffic and parking is limited. It is easier to travel by Train or Bus to work.

Transportation

1. MBTA Subway Lines

  • Orange Line:

  • Blue Line:

    • Runs from Bowdoin near downtown to Wonderland in Revere, serving Logan Airport along the way.
    • Notable stops include Aquarium, State Street, Maverick, and Airport (with free shuttle to Logan terminals).

 

2. MBTA Commuter Rail

  • Routes: The commuter rail serves cities and towns around Boston, including Lowell, Worcester, Newburyport, and Providence (Rhode Island).
  • Stations: Main stations in Boston are South Station and North Station, with routes branching out in multiple directions.
  • Fares: Distance-based and split into fare zones, with multi-ride passes available.

 

3. Amtrak

  • Service: Amtrak runs several routes through Boston, with Northeast Regional and Acela Express connecting to New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
  • Stations: The main Amtrak station is South Station, with some routes also stopping at Back Bay and North Station.

 

4. Silver Line (Bus Rapid Transit)

  • Service Area: The Silver Line operates several routes with sections running underground, particularly in the Seaport area.
  • Airport Connection: The Silver Line 1 (SL1) connects South Station to Logan Airport terminals for free, providing easy airport access.

 

5. Tickets and Fares

  • CharlieCard: A reloadable smart card for MBTA subway and bus services offering discounted fares.
  • Fare Pricing: Subway rides are $2.40 with a CharlieCard or $2.90 with a paper ticket. Monthly passes are also available.
